Quran 43:42-43
42. Blame  lies  on those  who  wrong  people,  and commit  aggression  in  the  land  without right. These  will  have  a  painful  punishment.

Quran 45:14
Tell  those  who  believe  to forgive  those  who do  not  hope  for  the  Days  of  Allah.  He fully recompense  people  for  whatever  they have  earned.

Volume  6,  Book  60,  Number  167:
Narrated  'Abdullah  bin  AzZubair: (The  Verse)  "Hold  to  forgiveness;  command  what  is  right..."  was  revealed  by  Allah  except  in  connection  with  the  character  of  the  people.  'Abdullah  bin  Az-Zubair  said:  Allah  ordered  His  Prophet  to forgive  the  people  their  misbehavior  (towards  him).

Musnad Ahmad 7001:
Abdullah ibn Amr reported:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was upon the pulpit and he said:
Be merciful to others and you will receive mercy. Forgive others and Allah will forgive you.

Sunan At-Tirmidhi 2016:
Abu Abdullah Al-Khadali reported:
I asked Aisha about the character of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Aisha said:
The Prophet was not indecent, he was not obscene, he would not shout in the markets, and he would not respond to an evil deed with an evil deed, but rather he would pardon and overlook.

Musnad Ahmad 16999:
Uqbah ibn Amir reported:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
O Uqbah, reconcile whoever cuts you off, give to whoever deprives you, and pardon whoever wrongs you.

Anas ibn Malik reported:
I never saw a case involving legal retaliation being referred to the Messenger of Allah except that he would recommend pardoning the criminal.

Sunan At-Tirmidhi 1424:
Aisha reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Verily, it is better for the leader to make a mistake forgiving the criminal than it is for him to make a mistake punishing the innocent.
